چکیده

This paper presents a general treatment of the combinatorial approach to the scheduling problem, enhancing previous formulations in the literature. The focus of this paper is a formal analysis of the ILP approach, which we use to evaluate the structure of our formulation. Polyhedral theory and duality theory are used to demonstrate that e cient solutions of the scheduling problem can be expected from a carefully formulated integer linear program (ILP). Furthermore, we use the theory of valid inequalities to tighten the constraints and make the formulation more e cient.

SINGLE MACHINE DUE DATE ASSIGNMENT SCHEDULING PROBLEM WITH PRECEDENCE CONSTRAINTS AND CONTROLLABLE PROCESSING TIMES IN FUZZY ENVIRONMENT

In this paper, a due date assignment scheduling problem with precedence constraints and controllable processing times in uncertain environment is investigated, in which the basic processing time of each job is assumed to be the symmetric trapezoidal fuzzy number, and the linear resource consumption function is used. The objective is to minimize the crisp possibilistic mean (or expected) value of...

A multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with time lags and fuzzy activity durations

The resource-constrained project scheduling problem is to find a schedule that minimizes the project duration subject to precedence relations and resource constraints. To further account for economic aspects of the project, one may add an objective of cash nature to the problem. In addition, dynamic nature and variations in real world are known to introduce uncertainties into data. Therefore, t...

Quay Cranes and Yard Trucks Scheduling Problem at Container Terminals

A bi-objective mathematical model is developed to simultaneously consider the quay crane and yard truck scheduling problems at container terminals. Main real-world assumptions, such as quay cranes with non-crossing constraints, quay cranes’ safety margins and precedence constraints are considered in this model. This integrated approach leads to better efficiency and productivity at container te...

Locomotive assignment problem with train precedence using genetic algorithm

This paper aims to study the locomotive assignment problem which is very important for railway companies, in view of high cost of operating locomotives. This problem is to determine the minimum cost assignment of homogeneous locomotives located in some central depots to a set of pre-scheduled trains in order to provide sufficient power to pull the trains from their origins to their destinations...

A THEORETICALLY CORRECT RESOURCE USAGE VISUALIZATION FOR THE RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED PROJECT SCHEDULING PROBLEM

The cumulative resource constraints of the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) do not treat the resource demands as geometric rectangles, that is, activities are not necessarily assigned to the same resource units over their processing times. In spite of this fact, most papers on resource-constrained project scheduling mainly in the motivation phase use a strip packing of re...
